Abu Dhabi Ports Group has signed a framework agreement with the National Company for the Management of Maritime Ports, which is responsible for the management of the Port of Constanta in Romania. The agreement aims to explore strategic investment and development opportunities in the Port of Constanta, the largest port on the Black Sea. The terms of this agreement establish a foundation for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including the development of existing and new ports, the implementation of advanced digital solutions, and the enhancement of sustainability initiatives focused on adopting renewable energy solutions, effective waste management, and reducing emissions. This contributes to responsible growth and long-term adaptability. Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamsi, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, stated that this framework agreement provides a platform for dialogue and cooperation with the Port of Constanta, which is one of the most strategically important maritime centers in the Black Sea region. He added that in line with the vision and directives of our wise leadership, we look forward to exploring opportunities that will help strengthen the Group's presence along the 'Middle Corridor' and support our partners in Romania in achieving sustainable economic growth and enhancing the country's trade network. The Port of Constanta is located on the eastern edge of Europe and serves as a major commercial gateway on the Black Sea, and is one of the largest ports on the European continent. In 2025, the port handled 88 million tons of liquid, dry, and general cargo, in addition to approximately 1,000,000 TEUs. Thanks to its strategic location at the entrance to the 'Danube - Black Sea' canal, the port forms a vital link between shipping routes in the Black Sea and the inland waterways that serve Eastern and Central Europe. As a comprehensive multimodal center connecting maritime, rail, road, and river transport networks, the Port of Constanta plays a pivotal role in facilitating regional and international trade flows, including the transport of large volumes of agricultural products such as grains from Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Over the past four years, Abu Dhabi Ports Group has made strategic investments to enhance its presence in Central Asia and Pakistan, and to contribute to the revitalization of the 'Middle Corridor,' a vital trade route characterized by its low environmental impact, connecting China with Europe via the ancient Silk Road. In 2025, the Group launched the 'Gulf Link' logistics project, a joint venture with Kazakhstan's national railway company, and opened a multimodal logistics center in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi. It also entered into a partnership with 'Simorg Invest' to develop a grain terminal at the Kazakh Caspian Sea port of Kuryk. Since 2022, through joint ventures with KazMunayGas and Kazmortransflot in Kazakhstan, the Group has been operating tankers to transport Kazakh oil across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan and linking it to Western pipeline networks. In December 2025, the Group expanded its regional presence by partnering with 'Avisto Group' in Tajikistan to establish a joint venture to provide integrated logistics and cargo transportation solutions nationwide.
