Since 2022, through joint ventures with KazMunayGas and Kazmortransflot in Kazakhstan, the Group has been operating tankers to transport Kazakh oil across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, connecting it to Western pipeline networks.
Port Constanța is located on the eastern edge of Europe and serves as a major commercial gateway on the Black Sea, ranking among the largest ports in the continent. In 2025, the port handled 88 million tons of liquid, dry, and general cargo, along with approximately one million standard containers.
As a comprehensive multimodal center linking maritime, rail, road, and river transport networks, Port Constanța plays a pivotal role in facilitating regional and international trade flows, including the transport of large shipments of agricultural products such as grains from Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
"The Middle Corridor"
Over the past four years, Abu Dhabi Ports Group has made strategic investments to strengthen its presence in Central Asia and Pakistan, contributing to the revitalization of the "Middle Corridor"—a vital trade route characterized by its low environmental impact, connecting China with Europe via the ancient Silk Road.
In December 2025, the Group expanded its regional footprint by partnering with Avisto Group in Tajikistan to establish a joint venture for providing integrated logistics and cargo shipping solutions nationwide.
In 2025, the Group launched the "Gulf Link" logistics project (a joint venture with Kazakhstan's national railway), opened a multimodal logistics center in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, and partnered with "Simorg Invest" to develop a grain terminal at the Kazakh Caspian Sea port of Kuryk.
Mohammed Juma Al Shamsi: The Romanian Port is Strategically Important on the Black Sea
Abu Dhabi Ports Group signed a framework agreement with the National Company "Maritime Ports Administration", responsible for managing the Port of Constanța in Romania, to explore strategic investment and development opportunities in the largest port on the Black Sea.
The terms of this agreement establish a foundation for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including developing existing and new ports, implementing advanced digital solutions, and enhancing sustainability initiatives focused on adopting renewable energy solutions, effective waste management, and reducing emissions, thereby promoting responsible growth and long-term resilience.
A Platform for Dialogue
Captain Mohammed Juma Al Shamsi, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, stated that this framework agreement provides a platform for dialogue and cooperation with Port Constanța, which is one of the most strategically important maritime centers in the Black Sea region.
He added that in line with the vision and directives of our wise leadership, we look forward to exploring opportunities that will help consolidate the Group's presence along the "Middle Corridor" and support our partners in Romania in achieving sustainable economic growth and enhancing the country's trade connectivity network.
Thanks to its strategic location at the entrance to the "Danube - Black Sea" canal, the port forms a vital link between shipping routes in the Black Sea and the inland waterways serving Eastern and Central Europe.
