Romanian Woman Fined for Speeding to Save Easter Cake

Romanian police fined a woman for speeding, which she justified by the need to rush home to prevent her Easter cake from burning in the oven. The driver explained that she had left the cake in the oven on the eve of Orthodox Easter. Police clarified that she was driving at 176 km/h on a narrow rural road in the southeast of the country. In a Facebook post, the Constanța County Police stated that the driver tried to justify her actions with a 'culinary drama'. Most Orthodox Christians in Romania celebrate Easter this week, a week after Catholics and Protestants. Police imposed a fine of over 1,800 lei (about $410) on the driver, noting that this amount is enough to buy '20 high-quality ready-made cozonacas'. Her driver's license was also suspended for four months, giving her 'plenty of time to walk and learn all the secrets of baking', according to the police.
